Forbidden Broadway’s new tongue-in-cheek spoof a hoot!
For 25 years Gerard Alessandrini’s been making us laugh by singing and dancing his lovable lampooning of Broadway musicals and Broadway personalities with his various versions of Forbidden Broadway. His clever and witty, often satirical spoofs of musical theatre are full of laughs as we toe-tap to his swipes at Broadway shows from their image to their subject matter to their influence on pop culture, Forbidden Broadway takes no prisoners. The show slams any and everything from classic shows to cash-cows juke box musicals to long running shows—if there is something a pretension needed to be attacked, this show will deliver.

Jared Bradshaw, Leisa Mather, Valerie Fagan and Michael West together with Ron Roy at the piano are the cast from the NYC production working here for the next ten weeks. Don’t miss them—they are fabulous as they deliver spoofs on such shows as Spamlot, Doubt, The Lion King, Jersey Boys, Wicked along with there classic spoofs of Fiddler on the Roof, Les Miz and many other icons of Broadway. Jerry Orbach, B.D. Wong, Brooke Shields, Harvey Firestein, Hugh Jackman and Carol Channing get whacked here with new twists on The Beatles and Yoko and Bob Goulet. This show is smart, tuneful and bitingly funny. Lovers of Broadway musicals will laugh themselves silly. Forbidden Broadway keeps the material fresh, energetic and fast-paced. This is a fine evening out for couples and groups of musical theatre lovers. Laughs aplenty in this polished show featuring four super-talents. I enjoyed Forbidden Broadway.
