Written by Timberlake Wertenbaker and based on the novel The Playmaker by Thomas Keanally (Schindler’s List), it won the Laurence Olivier Play of the Year Award in 1988. Dealing with these miserable conditions, a young lieutenant is put in charge of staging a play with a cast made up of convicts.
