The Nutcracker: A Quick Introduction
The Nutcracker is a ballet set to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. Productions Removed From the Current Listings
The former Grand Kyiv Ballet and older Athenaeum listings from 2023–24 were removed because those dates were no longer current. Ballet 5:8 and Ballet Chicago are listed under their current 2026 producing organizations instead of using generic “Athenaeum Center” headings.
