Crafty and hilarious revue thoroughly entertains
It has been many years since I’ve been to the Second City so I thought I’d see what all the buzz was. I must say that I was quite impressed the entire operation of The Second City from the attention to audience pleasures to the slick, smooth and funny revue for a modest ticket price from $23 to $28. The jammed-packed audience seemed to have a great time making revues at The Second City a Chicago entertainment institution.
There latest revue, their 101st, Let Them Eat Chaos, follows the classic Second City formula that includes improv, sight gags, physical antics, wordplay, and audience involvement, songs, and vivid video images. This topic is chaos and the six performers do their creative best to give us a funny show for two hours. While Edgar Blackman, Holly Laurant, Tawny Newsome, Katie Rich, Steve Waltien were all terrific comics, I was especially impressed with the talent of Ross Bryant. He was a smart, nerdy and physically adept comic with fine instincts.
I can’t imagine a finer date night show that The Second City revues. They are fun, talented and exciting. Of all the comedy venues in town – the Second City is still the benchmark for comedy revues. Their Equity players are major talents and the revues are world class comedy. Just get to their Wells Street venue for a good time, a few drinks. Take your special someone to The Second city to enjoy their latest revue: Let Them Eat Chaos. It is fun and quite funny. enjoy!
